Courts puts tax money at risk: Yes, it is true........Every time the courts allows a cash bond, they are assuming, for the tax payers, the risk that an accused individual won't appear in court. When that happens, the courts have no one else to turn to except the sheriff's department. Why would we want our budget for law enforcement spent chasing the accused a second time. Doesn't it make more sense to only allow surety bonds, and hold the insurance companies responsible for collecting those who fail to appear for their court dates? In many cases, the Sheriff doesn't go after these people, they wait until that person commits another offense before returning them to jail. With our property tax at an all time high, illegal aliens pushing drugs into our community and big city gangs migrating to our community, do we really want the courts putting our tax money at risk while taking officers off the beat to find offenders, when it can be simply accomplished through surety bonds. Only an ignorant person would support such an act by our elected officials.
